Sara Sparrow (Joy Gohring) is no ordinary hero. This 33 year old Midwesterner is a copy machine salesperson by day, by night... a "karaoke missionary" who travels from bar to bar, uplifting the downtrodden through the power of song.
Her secret weapon? A portable rig. Her mission? To fight injustice, boredom, and self-doubt through karaoke: if she can bring one person to sing each day, the world will be a better place.
In a local Channel 11 exclusive, we follow Sara on a routine karaoke conversion. Armed with a cranberry and soda and a microphone, she helps a shy bartender (Kyle Gass) bust out of his shell with a heart-warming rendition of Wilson Phillips' "Hold On."
Sara must face disbelievers daily, but she meets her true nemesis in hoity-toity news reporter Nancy Nosenchuck (Nicole Sullivan). Sara pulls out the stops to lead Nancy to the karaoke light, but not until Sara tackles her own fears by confronting an unruly heckler (Charles Dalhgren) does Nancy recognize Sara as a true hero.
Directed by Samantha Kurtzman-Counter, ONE SUNG HERO is an inspiring tale of finding that thing - whatever it is - that gives your life meaning. As Sara would say, "When life gives you lemons... sing!"
